Meet Dr. McWhirter

Dr. Jason McWhirter believes that skin care rejuvenation and physical wellness are intertwined. He uses his training and expertise to create treatments customized for each patient.

What Causes Adult Acne?

Much like acne in the teenage years, adult acne results from hormonal changes, clogged pores and infection. As oil and dead skin cells collect and form a soft plug in the hair ducts, blackheads (open comedones) and whiteheads (closed comedones) develop.

Adult acne tends to occur more commonly for women, especially during menstrual cycles, pregnancy and menopause, when hormones greatly fluctuate. But men are not immune. It typically affects the face and upper body.

Solutions for Adult Acne

Dr. McWhirter offers treatment solutions for all ages. The goal for treating acne involves reducing oil on the skin, clearing up the pores and addressing the bacteria associated with acne. It also involves improving the appearance of the skin, such as reducing scars and improving skin tone. Oftentimes acne treatments can help rejuvenate the skin for an overall smoother, clearer, healthier, even younger-looking appearance. Visit our acne treatment page to learn about your options.

Success With Acne Treatments

Successful treatment involves resolving the acne while caring for your skin. It may involve small changes, like replacing your current skin care or makeup products, or bigger measures like technologically advanced laser treatments. Dr. McWhirter and the cosmetic medical team at ReNue will evaluate your skin and current skin care routine. Then they will develop a personalized treatment plan. Once you receive your treatment plan from ReNue, you will want to follow through on your treatment, avoid additional treatments and keep from washing your face excessively. Do not pick at the pimples or you may cause infection, worsen acne or damage your skin.
