All About Chins

Call me weird, but I am fascinated by chins.  They come in all shapes and sizes, with dimples and creases and define the length of the face and how tapered it looks.  It has long been one of those neglected parts of the face in terms of non-surgical correction, but its time has come. I am declaring June “Chin Month.”  No longer will it be ignored. Some people have strong chins that are long or wide.  In females, a longer, pointier chin is considered more feminine, whereas in men, a strong, square chin masculinizes the face.  Where I find chins … Continue Reading

Introducing the ReNue Vampire Lift and ReNue PRP Facial

I have written about PRP before but we are at the brink of it becoming known to the masses and so I thought it needed to be revisited in a new way. This story goes back a-ways.  ReNue was the first to bring PRP technology to Calgary back in 2012.  We had a big press conference; local radio and the local papers were there, and a bunch of PR was done.  And guess what? It was all a big flop……… I remember being so excited and then 3 months down the road being so disappointed that the phones were not … Continue Reading

Preparing for That Special Event

A lovely long-time customer of mine just completed a series of Juvéderm treatments.  Her goal was to feel the best she could for her son’s upcoming wedding.  It is common for us at ReNue to get approached for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments prior to a special event.  I can think of another client, recently, that was going to a family reunion in Eastern Europe and wanted to feel her best for the occasion.  These are stressful events.  We are all self-conscious of how we have taken care of ourselves over the years and I guess we hope we have … Continue Reading

Let’s Talk about Necks – Part 2

Thank you for all the response to my first blog and appointments booked. Now comes the stuff I am particularly excited about: here is the future of necks. These procedures will help the neck with some sagging and skin laxity, but also, a more preventative mind-set will be the key to the aging neck. Here are some thoughts: PRP with Dermapen micro-needling: We are very excited about the results with this technique on the face and are now starting to use it on the neck.  There is no reason that we shouldn’t be able to achieve safe and reliable skin … Continue Reading

Let’s Talk about Necks – Part 1

I realized that I have a lot to say about necks, so this will be a two-part series.  In the first part, I will try to explain why aging skin on the neck is so difficult to treat and what we have done in the past.  The second part will be where I think the future is headed. During Oscar season I think a lot about the aging neck.  If some of the wealthiest and most beautiful people in the world wear elegant scarves to cover up their aging necks, what chance do the rest of us have? I get … Continue Reading
